This course will offer a comprehensive overview of different moral theories through time. The course will have three components:

THE PHILOSOPHY OF HUMAN NATURE

What is human nature? Are we naturally benevolent, or are we naturally selfish and immoral? Does the truth lie somewhere in between? Or is there no such thing as human nature at all? What are the consequences of our nature on how we ought behave, morally speaking?

This course will look at different views of human nature. It will then consider the consequences of these different theories for ethical theory.
